Claudio Loser is the Founding Partner and CEO of Centennial Latin America, and a recognized expert on Latin American economies and institutions. He served as Director of the Western Hemisphere Department at the IMF, where he led efforts in surveillance, technical assistance, and research.
He has worked with organizations such as CAF, the Asian Development Bank, JICA, JBIC, and various financial institutions. He is a Senior Fellow at the Inter-American Dialogue and teaches Latin American development and finance at George Washington University. He has published extensively on Latin American economic issues. He studied at the University of Cuyo and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
Alejandro Werner is the founding director of the Georgetown Americas Institute (GAI) at Georgetown University. He is an expert in economic outlooks, emerging markets, monetary policy, currency, financial crises, and fiscal policy in Latin America.
He served as Director of the Western Hemisphere Department (WHD) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2013 to 2021. He has taught at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), IE Business School, and Yale University.
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
He has worked at FLAR since 2004, where he has also served as Director of Research and Development, Deputy Director of Economic Studies, International Economist, and Junior Economist.
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Universidad del Rosario, a Master’s in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from Universidad de los Andes and the University of Maryland, a Master’s in Economics from Universidad de los Andes, and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Universidad de Antioquia. He has also taught at the latter two universities.
